Celebrating Easter Eco-Style

When Easter rolls around, you can almost feel the global sigh of relief.

Spring.

New beginnings.

Fresh projects to tackle.

And, of course, you can expect that I'd have some eco-friendly solutions to celebrating this holiday.

Ideas to help you celebrate Easter eco-style:

1- Get creative with Easter baskets.  Look around your home for items you can repurpose into an Easter basket.  Do you have sturdy hats you can turn upside down and sew a ribbon into?  Do you have left-over craft bags you can embellish?  What about decorating a bowl?  Think about what you already own that could be used by the Easter basket recipient.  It's like a surprise within a surpise.

2- Use natural materials to decorate.  Some of these ideas may require some forethought as time to grow them is required.  Think about planting grass seeds to eventually place real grass within a basket.  How about wheat grass?  Use real branches for an Easter tree.  See resources below for how-tos.

3- Bake using healthier ingredients.  Because of the amount of chocolate we're exposed to on this holiday, try to bake your other goodies with healthier versions.  See my Easter Eco-Style Pinterest board for some ideas.

4- Be original with your basket contents.  Easter baskets don`t need to contain chocolate only.  Add things like books, puzzles, play dough, coloring books, crayons, or notepads to your creatively crafted Easter baskets (see #1 above).

5-  Make the egg-hunt original.  If you normally hide Easter eggs around the house, try something a little different this year.  Make it a treasure hunt, with a map and clues.  You can find some free printables on my Easter Eco-Style Pinterest board.

What are your Easter traditions?  How can you revamp them to include some eco-friendly alternatives?
